I studied usage of 'as' having some meanings like 'at the same time' or 'because'

As (= at the same time)

- As S + V

: ~ 함과 동시에

: ~ 할 때, ~ 할 즈음에

해당 상황에서 as 와 when 을 많이 비교를 하는데,

as: 2 things happen at the same time

when: one thing happens after another

As (= because)

- As S + V

: because

: since

: ~ 때문에

해당 상황에서 또한 as 와 when 을 많이 비교 하는데,

as: because 와 같이 원인의 관점

when: 어떠한 상태 혹은 기간의 관점

Compare:

As they lived near us, we used to see them pretty often.

When they lived near us, we used to see them pretty often.

My camera was stolen when I was asleep on the beach.

as, since, because 의 어감 차이

3가지 모두 because 와 같이 이유를 설명하는 관점에서의 비교이다.

Since: 이미 서로 알고있는 사실에 대해서 얘기할 때 (조건 느낌?), 오히려 Since 이후의 문장에 초점이 맞춰지는 느낌

> Hey, since we wear the same size, how about we. hare our clothes?

Because: 이유에 대해서 언급하고자 할때, 이유에 초점이 맞춰지는 느낌

> Because we wear the same size, we can share our clothes.

As: Formal 한 경우, 문어체의 경우 활용, 일상적인 대화에서는 잘 쓰지 않는 것 같다.

> As this is the Jane's last day, we're gonna have a farewell party.
